Notes for teachers

Use this test after introducing comparatives and superlatives, or as a review before an A2 exam. It targets the most frequent errors: 'wie' instead of 'als', 'mehr + adjective' instead of -er, missing umlauts, wrong irregular forms (gerner, gutester), the missing -e- in forms like 'am ältesten', and wrong endings after der/die/das. As a follow-up, ask students to write five sentences comparing their town, family or favourite foods using als, so … wie and am …sten.
