Notes for teachers

Before the test, revise the basic rule: movement towards a place (Wohin?) takes the accusative, and location (Wo?) takes the dative. The test targets typical A2 errors, such as using the dative after stellen, legen or setzen, mixing up stehen and stellen, and confusing im/ins and am/ans. As a follow-up, ask learners to describe their room orally using both verb types. They could also do a 'tidy the room' role play: one student gives instructions (Leg das Buch auf den Tisch!) and another describes the result (Das Buch liegt auf dem Tisch).
