Notes for teachers

Use this test after introducing subject pronouns and the present forms of to be, or as a quick diagnostic at the start of an A1 course. It targets frequent beginner errors: subject–verb agreement with plural subjects such as 'Tom and Ana', the incorrect form 'amn't', the wrong word order in questions, and contractions in positive short answers such as 'Yes, it's'. As a follow-up, students can write five true and five false sentences about themselves. Partners then answer with short answers.
