Notes for teachers

Use this test after introducing the present tense of être and avoir, or as a diagnostic at the start of an A1 course. It targets classic beginner errors: tu est instead of tu es, je ne ai instead of je n'ai, and using être instead of avoir for age, hunger, cold and being right (elle est vingt ans). For follow-up, ask learners to write five sentences about themselves and a family member using both verbs, including one negative and one question.
