Notes for teachers
Use this test after work on formal or written French, such as reports, summaries and press headlines. It targets typical C1 errors: invented suffixes (*arrivement, *choisissement), false friends (maintenance/maintien, complexion/complexité), the wrong preposition after a noun (*dépendance sur, *intérêt à), and keeping an adverb where an adjective is needed. As follow-up, give students short news paragraphs to rewrite as headlines, or long subordinate clauses to condense with prepositions such as dès, avant, en raison de.
