Notes for teachers

The test targets the core A1 rule: hay goes with indefinite articles, numbers, quantifiers or no article, while estar goes with definite articles, names, possessives and pronouns. Typical errors include 'hay el/la...', pluralising hay as 'hayan', using es for location and forgetting está/están agreement. As a follow-up, students can describe their own room or street using both structures, then ask a partner '¿Hay...?' and '¿Dónde está...?' questions.
