Use Parts 1 and 2 to check form before moving on to meaning and use in Parts 3 and 4. The distractors target frequent B1 errors: adding endings to the wrong stem (*hacería, *podería), confusing the conditional with the future or the imperfect, and using the conditional after 'si' or 'que' where the imperfect subjunctive is needed. As a follow-up, students can write five sentences beginning 'Si tuviera un año libre...' and swap them with a partner to check.
