Notes for teachers

Start by contrasting 'I cut my hair' with 'I had my hair cut', and ask who did the action. Learners often put the object in the wrong place ('I had cut my hair') or use the base form instead of the past participle. They also confuse 'have someone do' with 'get someone to do'. As a follow-up, ask pairs to list five services they have had done recently or plan to have done, and to ask each other questions about them.
