B2 German worksheet on the genitive case: articles, endings, wessen-questions and genitive prepositions like wegen, trotz and während.
Start by reviewing the genitive endings (-es/-s on masculine and neuter nouns, des/der/eines/einer) before learners do Exercise 1 individually. Typical mistakes are forgetting the -s ending (des Regen), missing the -n on weak nouns (des Nachbar) and using the dative after wegen. Point out that the dative after wegen is common in speech but the genitive is expected in written and exam German. As a follow-up, learners can write a short formal complaint email using at least five genitive prepositions.
