This worksheet practises Konjunktiv I for reporting what other people say, think or ask in German. B2 learners form present, past and future Konjunktiv I, report negatives, questions and requests, and learn when to use Konjunktiv II instead. The exercises move from single verb forms to full sentences.

B2 German worksheet on Konjunktiv I in indirect speech: forms, past and future, negatives, questions, requests and Konjunktiv II replacement.
First review the stem + -e pattern (er komme, sie habe) and the irregular verb sein (ich sei, wir seien). Highlight that Konjunktiv II is used when Konjunktiv I looks the same as the indicative (sie haben → sie hätten). Common mistakes are invented forms like "seie" and "wisst", using dass instead of ob in yes/no questions, and choosing the wrong auxiliary in the past (habe gefahren instead of sei gefahren). As a follow-up, students can rewrite a short news article or interview in indirect speech.
