Notes for teachers
Allow about 45 minutes, or set each section on its own as a 15-minute task. Many distractors repeat words from the text but distort the meaning, so learners must read for precise meaning rather than match keywords. The story section focuses on implied meaning (gestures, understatement, the ending), which C1 learners often find hard. As follow-up, ask students to explain the idioms (e.g. „nur die halbe Miete“, „an etwas vorbeigehen“) in their own words, or to write a reply to the email.
