Notes for teachers
Use Parts 1 and 2 to check form and meaning before moving on to error detection and the text in Parts 3 and 4. The distractors target the most frequent C1 errors: active Partizip I used for passive meaning, wrong adjective endings after der-, ein- and zero articles, Partizip II of haben-verbs used as attributes (stattgefunden, getanzt) and the wrong position of zu with separable verbs. As a follow-up, ask learners to turn participle phrases from a newspaper article back into relative clauses, and then to do the reverse.
