This B2 test checks your knowledge of everyday French idioms such as « poser un lapin », « avoir du pain sur la planche » and « coûter les yeux de la tête ». It covers their meaning, their exact wording, correct use in real situations and understanding in a short reading text. It suits upper-intermediate learners and teachers who want a ready-to-print idioms check.
Use Part 1 as a warm-up and Part 2 to check that students know the exact wording of fixed expressions. Learners often translate idioms literally or mix up similar images (e.g. « couper la poire en trois » instead of « en deux », or « faim de chien » instead of « faim de loup »). Parts 3 and 4 show whether students can use and recognise idioms in context. As a follow-up, ask students to write a short story using five idioms from the test.
