Printable B1 German worksheet on relative clauses: relative pronouns, prepositions, dessen/deren, wo/was, word order. Answers included.
Start by revising the definite article table, because most relative pronouns look the same. Point out the exceptions: dative plural denen, and genitive dessen/deren. A useful classroom rule is that the gender and number come from the noun, while the case comes from the job of the pronoun inside the relative clause. Typical mistakes are using the nominative everywhere, forgetting that the verb goes to the end, and choosing dessen for female owners. As a follow-up, students can write five 'Ich kenne jemanden, der…' sentences about classmates for others to guess.
