Notes for teachers

Start with a quick classroom game: hold up students' things and ask 'Whose pen is this?' to elicit answers like 'It's Maria's pen' and 'It's her pen.' Common mistakes are mixing up his and her, writing it's for its or they're for their, and leaving out the 's (Maria book). As a follow-up, ask learners to draw their family tree and write five sentences such as 'My mother's name is…' and 'Her brother is…'.
