Notes for teachers

Start by drawing three boxes on the board (AT: times, night, the weekend; ON: days, dates; IN: months, years, seasons, the morning/afternoon/evening) and let learners refer to them during Exercises 1–3. Common mistakes are 'in Monday', 'on the morning' and 'in night', so highlight the exceptions 'at night' and 'in the morning'. Note that British English uses 'at the weekend' and American English 'on the weekend'; both are accepted. As a follow-up, learners can interview a partner with 'When do you…?' questions and answer with in, on or at.
