This 30-question B1 test checks your command of the French present subjunctive: regular and irregular forms, the expressions and conjunctions that trigger it, and when to use the indicative or an infinitive instead. It suits intermediate learners and teachers who want a quick, printable check of a key B1 grammar point.
Part 1 tests forms, Part 2 tests when the subjunctive is required, and Part 3 tests use in context, including negatives, questions and error spotting. The test targets common B1 mistakes: using the indicative after il faut que or vouloir que, overusing the subjunctive after espérer, être certain or il est probable, forgetting the double i in oubliions, and using que + subjunctive when both subjects are the same. For follow-up, have students explain the trigger in each sentence and write their own pairs such as je crois que / je ne suis pas sûr que.
