Printable A1 French worksheet on definite, indefinite and partitive articles (le, un, du), including the negative pas de. Answers included.
Start by reviewing gender with a few common nouns. Then show the three article families side by side: specific or general (le), one or some countable things (un/des), and an amount of something uncountable (du). Typical mistakes are 'de le' instead of du, 'de la eau' instead of de l'eau, and keeping un/du after pas. Many learners also wrongly change le to de after aimer in the negative. For follow-up, pairs can describe their fridge or shopping basket ('Il y a du lait, il n'y a pas de beurre').
