Topics covered

Regular -er verbsPresent tense endingsNegatives with ne...pasQuestions with est-ce queSpelling: manger / mangeons

Notes for teachers

Start by writing the endings -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent on the board. Point out that je, tu, il and ils forms all sound the same. Common mistakes include forgetting the silent -ent in the ils/elles form, not shortening je to j' and ne to n' before a vowel, and writing mangons instead of mangeons. As a follow-up, ask learners to write five true and five false sentences about their week using -er verbs. A partner then answers with oui or with a ne...pas sentence.
