Notes for teachers

Start by reviewing the full conjugation tables of être, avoir, aller and faire on the board, then let students work through the exercises in order. Typical mistakes include using être instead of avoir for age and hunger (*je suis 20 ans*), regularising forms (*vous faisez*, *je vas*), forgetting the elision (*ne a* → *n'a*) and keeping *un/une* after a negative instead of *de*. As a follow-up, students can interview a partner with five est-ce que questions using different irregular verbs and report back with il/elle.
