Notes for teachers

Start by eliciting the three main tense combinations on the board, then work through the exercises from controlled to freer practice. The most common mistake is using the conditional after si (*si tendría*); also watch for future or present subjunctive after si (*si vaya*). Accept both -ra and -se subjunctive forms, and hubiera as an alternative to habría in the main clause. As a follow-up, ask students to write five questions starting with ¿Qué harías si...? and interview a partner.
