Notes for teachers

Start by reviewing how the imperfect subjunctive is formed from the third person plural of the preterite (tuvieron → tuviera/tuviese), then work through the exercises in order. Typical mistakes include using the conditional after si (*si tendría), keeping the present subjunctive after a past main verb (*quería que vengas), and inventing regular stems for irregular verbs (*sabiera). As a follow-up, ask learners to write five sentences about what their parents or teachers wanted them to do when they were children.
