Topics covered

Pasiva reflejaImpersonal seSer + participle passiveEstar + participle (resulting state)Se + a + personAgreement and word order

Notes for teachers

Start with Exercise 1 to check agreement in the pasiva refleja before moving to the contrast between ser (action) and estar (resulting state) in Exercise 2. Typical mistakes include plural agreement with se + a + person (*Se buscan a los testigos*), singular verbs with plural subjects (*Se alquila pisos*), irregular participles (*rompido*) and using de instead of por for the agent. As a follow-up, ask learners to write a short news report or set of rules for a public space using at least five different impersonal or passive structures.
