Printable B1 French worksheet on relative pronouns qui, que, dont and où: gap fills, sentence joining, error correction and word order, with answers.
Start by reviewing the key question: is the noun the subject (qui), the direct object (que), introduced by de (dont), or a place or time (où)? A typical mistake is using où with transitive verbs such as réserver or visiter (l'hôtel que nous avons réservé). Another is forgetting dont with verbs like avoir besoin de, parler de and rêver de. Learners also often forget that que becomes qu' before a vowel. As a follow-up, ask learners to describe their town or a favourite film in five sentences, using each pronoun at least once.
