C1 French worksheet on sequence of tenses (concordance des temps): reported speech, indirect questions, future in the past and the subjunctive.
Start by eliciting the main shifts after a past main verb: présent → imparfait, passé composé → plus-que-parfait, futur → conditionnel présent, futur antérieur → conditionnel passé. Point out the time expressions that shift too (demain → le lendemain, hier → la veille). Common mistakes include keeping the future after a past main verb, using 'est-ce que' or 'qu'est-ce que' in indirect questions, and using the indicative after 'bien que'. As a follow-up, ask learners to report a short interview or dialogue in the past, then swap texts and check each other's tenses.
