About this test

Free printable A1 German worksheet on sein and haben: conjugation, negatives with nicht and kein, and yes/no questions. Answers included.

Topics covered

sein (to be)haben (to have)Present tense conjugationNegation with nicht and keinYes/no questions

Notes for teachers

Start by drilling the two conjugation tables aloud, then work through the exercises in order. A typical mistake is using haben for age (*Ich habe 20 Jahre*) as in some other languages. Students also confuse seid (ihr) with sind and use nicht ein instead of kein. For follow-up, have pairs interview each other with questions like Bist du müde? and Hast du Geschwister? and report back with er/sie.
