Printable A2 Spanish worksheet on the imperfect tense (pretérito imperfecto): regular and irregular forms, habits, descriptions, negatives and questions.
Start by eliciting childhood memories with 'Cuando era pequeño/a...' and review the endings (-aba, -ía) before Exercise 1. Typical mistakes are invented forms such as *eraba or *leiba, missing accents (íbamos, comía), and using the preterite with habit expressions like 'todos los días'. For a follow-up, ask learners to write a short paragraph comparing their life ten years ago with their life now, using 'Antes... pero ahora...'.
